This is the definitive step-by-step guide to setting up your KRevenue kiosk for the first time. No prior tech experience needed. Total time: under 10 minutes.

What You'll Need

That's it. No extra hardware, no developer, no IT department.

Step 1 — Create Your Business Profile (2 min)

After signing up, you'll land in the dashboard. First thing: complete your business profile.

  1. Go to Dashboard → Settings → Business Profile
  2. Fill in:
    • Business name
    • Industry (salon, gym, restaurant, med spa, etc.) — this matters, it pre-configures your kiosk behavior
    • Address
    • Logo (optional but recommended)
    • Brand color
  3. Click Save

KRevenue ships with 8 industry-specific defaults. Picking the right industry here sets reward templates, messaging tone, staff labels ("stylist" vs "trainer" vs "server"), and consent flows automatically. You can always override later.

Step 2 — Configure Your Reward (2 min)

This is the single most important configuration. Your reward drives your submission rate from 5% (bad reward) to 45% (great reward).

  1. Go to Dashboard → Settings → Kiosk & Rewards
  2. Choose a reward type:
    • Percentage discount (e.g., "10% off next visit")
    • Dollar credit (e.g., "$5 credit")
    • Free add-on (e.g., "Free brow wax")
    • Referral code (unique code friends can redeem)

Pro tip: "Free add-on" + "referral code for friends" consistently outperforms flat discounts. The add-on feels instant; the referral code turns one customer into three.

  1. Customize the success message shown to customers after submission
  2. Click Save

Step 3 — Generate Your QR Code (1 min)

  1. Go to Dashboard → Kiosk QR
  2. Select your location (if you have multiple)
  3. Click Generate QR Code
  4. Choose display option:
    • Download PDF — print and place at checkout
    • Display on iPad — open the URL on a tablet, tap to full-screen
    • Table tent — we provide a printable template

The QR code links to your kiosk URL like krevenue.com/kiosk/your-business-id. It's permanent — you can print it once and use it forever.

Step 4 — Test the Kiosk Flow Yourself (2 min)

Do this before handing it to customers. Seriously.

  1. Scan the QR code with your phone
  2. Walk through the 6 steps:
    • Phone number
    • Reward confirmation
    • Age gate (if your industry has one)
    • Photo upload
    • Staff credit
    • Success screen
  3. Confirm you received:
    • A WhatsApp/SMS with your referral code
    • A submission in the Content Queue
    • A test review request (if enabled)

If any step fails, contact support in-app — we respond in under 2 hours during business hours.

Step 5 — Train Your Staff (2 min)

Training is 3 sentences:

  1. "After the service, hand the customer our kiosk tablet."
  2. "Say: 'We love sharing our work — would you mind uploading a quick photo for [reward]?'"
  3. "That's it."

The kiosk handles everything else: consent, age gate, upload, review request.

Print the leaderboard on your staff room wall. Within 2 weeks, your team will be competing to capture more UGC than each other.

Step 6 — Go Live and Monitor (1 min)

  1. Place the kiosk at checkout (the natural pause in the customer journey)
  2. Open Dashboard → Analytics daily for the first week
  3. Watch for:
    • Submission rate (target: 25%+)
    • Review conversion rate (target: 15%+)
    • Missed-call recovery rate (target: 35%+)

If submission rate is under 20% after 7 days, the fix is almost always one of two things:

  • Reward is too weak → swap in a free add-on or referral code
  • Staff aren't handing the tablet over → retrain

Optional Step 7 — Turn On Automations

Once the kiosk is capturing content reliably, turn on the automation stack:

  • Missed-call-text-back (Settings → Automations)
  • Review request automation (Settings → Reviews)
  • Weekly content digest email (Settings → Notifications)
  • AI auto-captions (Settings → AI Brand Voice)

Each takes about 30 seconds to enable.

Multi-Location Setup (Empire Tier)

If you have multiple locations:

  1. Go to Dashboard → Locations
  2. Click Add Location for each
  3. Each location gets its own kiosk URL + QR code
  4. The Multi-Location Dashboard aggregates data across all of them

Per-location leaderboards, per-location reviews, per-location content queues — all in one view.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need Wi-Fi for the kiosk? Yes — the kiosk is web-based, so the tablet needs internet. Customer-facing cellular (4G/5G) works fine as a fallback.

What if my business has multiple departments (e.g., salon + spa)? Use industry "Other" and create custom reward templates per service type. Or treat each department as a separate location.

What if a customer has no phone? They can skip the phone field and just upload content anonymously. They won't get a referral code or review request, but the content still flows to your queue.

Can I use my own domain for the kiosk URL? Yes, on Empire tier. Support can configure kiosk.yourbrand.com → KRevenue.

What if someone uploads something inappropriate? Every submission hits the Content Queue for approval before it can be posted anywhere. Nothing auto-publishes without your review (unless you explicitly enable auto-publish for trusted cases).

You're Live

That's the full setup. Most owners finish in 8–10 minutes and see their first submission within the first hour.
